Sorry for the loooong delay...

Hello lovelies,

I know- it's been SUCH a long time! But, really, there hasn't been too much going on with my hair. Sorry, guys (ya'll know I luv ya'll : )

I'm a hostess at a friend's wedding this weekend, so I'll hopefully some pics of my hair...until then, here are some pics (and some nail photos to come tomorrow, hopefully):

This is my celebrity look-a-like (it was the thing to do on Facebook last week).
I ♥ eye makeup (I'm not a pro, as you can see)

Why I'm natural

Of course, you know I have natural hair, so I wanted to share (once again) why I decided to wear my hair this way.

The main reason I stopped relaxing is the history behind black women straightening their hair in the first place- to be more appealing (physically) to white folk and so white people would accept them. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that's why people continue to do it, I'm just saying that knowing the history is one reason I wanted to stop. It's kind of like reclaiming who I am and who my people are.

Also, I'd noticed that relaxers were making my hair thin. And I hate thin hair. I also got tired of spending my Saturdays in the salon, sitting under the dryer for an hour and then not wanting to rid with the windows down, not wanting to get my hair wet in the rain and spending a looong time trying to get my hair to 'lay right' in the morning only to end up frustrated. Of course, natural hair has its struggles, too, but I spend a lot less time on my hair, and I like it a lot more.

And when I decided I was going to be au naturale, I was at a point where I wanted to be who I was/am and not who others thought I should be. I wanted to embrace myself fully, and I felt I couldn't do that with a relaxer.

I've been relaxer-free for three years and completely natural for two years. So...I'm happy to be nappy! lol

Latched locs (1)

So, I tried finger-latching some of the locs the other day...it turned out okay, I guess. I should really make or buy (probably make) a tool so I can make it look better.

(Sorry it's a little blurry)

Thanks to loc rocker, I found a great video about latching from fellow loc wearer, kalia-dewdrop. You can check out the video here.

Anybody else latch?

Color!

So, I want to color /streak my hair (you probably already know this), and I've narrowed it down to two colors:

Which of these do you like? Because I'm so indecisive, your thoughts are appreciated!

New product I'm trying

Happy Monday!

My scalp itches- a lot. It's not really anything new, I've had the itchies, and dandruff, since I was younger. However, I got tired of scratching all the time (and potentially chipping my nail polish), so when I was in Walmart last week, I looked for some oil and found this:

Its ingredients include olive fruit oil, castor seed oil, jojoba seed oil, ginseng extract and more

In addition to your scalp, you can also use it as a body moisturizer and for hot oil treatements. I've only put it directly on my scalp twice. The itchies aren't completely gone, but it's getting better. I've also started using it for my dry skin, and it works fabulously! I love it!

And the price is great, too. Only $2 and some change at Walmart. If you try or have tried it, let me know what you think about it!

Here are some photos of my locs after washing them:

Comparison shot

Here's how my locs look now versus when I first started them. They kinda look the same length to me, but anyway, here they are : )

Random loc thoughts- 12.9

I wonder why my hair never stays tight for more than 2 weeks...It's kind of annoying. I don't want to get them redone because it's too soon, but I don't like how loose they feel...
